Hierarchical step by steps will link the hierarchical levels of same-taxonomy filters belonging to different presets into level-by-level selectors. This allows the creation of a system of dropdowns (or lists), with child levels getting displayed based on parent level selection.
To create a hierarchical step by step, follow these steps:
- Create separate annasta presets for each of the hierarchical levels of the filter’s underlying taxonomy. Add the filter to all these presets, each time setting the Hierarchical level option to the next value.
- Enable the Set as hierarchical step-by-step level option in all the filters that belong to the step by step system.
- To prevent the upper hierarchical levels from getting submitted, set the presets that hold these levels to the AJAX with delegated submission Filtering style.
- Set the last level to the button-submitted or instant AJAX Filtering style.
- Using annasta Guttenberg blocks, widgets, or shortcodes, place all the presets that belong to the hierarchical step by step system on the needed page, in the ascending order. The lower hierarchical sublevels will remain disabled until you select the parent options of the upper level.
